Children in Crossfire Advent Appeal

Children in Crossfire Advent Appeal

Young people participating in the Pope John Paul II award are coordinating the Children in Crossfire advent Appeal in a number of parishes in the diocese. The project helps young people accumulate social awareness activities toward their Pope John Paul II Award. Participants can accumulate activities by organising, distributing collection boxes, raising awareness in parishes and schools, collecting donations and counting money.

This year’s appeal aims to give children in the Ocean Road Cancer Institute (Tanzania) the gift of a lifetime of Christmases. Over the last three years Children in Crossfire have been doing some incredible work to benefit children with cancer. Three years ago only 20% of children with treatable cancers were surviving. Presently that rate has increased to 60% but is still below the global average of 87%. There is still some way to go, £56,800 is urgently required to provide patients with chemotherapy drugs and equipment over the next year.
