The Pope John Paul II Award Ceremony

Over 130 young people from across the diocese received their Pope John Paul II Award in the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan. Congratulation to all the young people involved! Many thanks to all who encourage and support our young people. A special word of thanks must go to our Parish Award Leaders, without whom the Award Scheme could not run.The Pope John Paul II Award Ceremony took place on Friday evening!

The Awards were presented by the Vicar General the Very Rev Peter O'Reilly, Seamus Kerr representing the Knights of Columbanus and Eileen Gallagher representing the Awarding Committee.

Our guest speakers were Ciara McDonald and the Very Rev Peter O'Reilly. Ciara spoke of her journey through serious illness that was made easier through Faith, community and family support. Ciara told how her involvement in the Pope John Paul II Award helped her contribute in a very positive way to her Parish community. In turn it was this community that
became such a big support to her in her time of need.

Very Rev O'Reilly spoke about his experience of the Award. He told the young people that their contribution to Parish life is very much appreciated by the whole congregation. He said that older parishioners had often commented on how wonderful it is to see young people taking an active role at Masses.

Music at the ceremony was performed by Ceol don Óige who were outstanding!
