Matthew McFadden from Errigal Ciaran in Co. Tyrone has taken up the post of Director of Youth Ministry in Clogher Diocese. He started his new post on 1st September 2008 and is looking forward to working with the people of Clogher Diocese especially the young people. He is no stranger to youth ministry or indeed youthwork, working for many years as a volunteer for Armagh Diocese before he was appointed as Youth Coordinator for the Catholic Parishes of Southampton in England.

Matthew believes in the Church and especially in the need to reach out to young people who often feel out of the loop when it comes to parish and community involvement. Young people have so much to offer their communities but for a variety of reasons often this energy, creativity, fun and sense of just is not utilised and is wasted. Likewise the Church has the potential to offer young people so much but often never sieze the opportunity.

Matthew has taken over from Fr. Martin O'Reilly who continues his ministry in the Parish of Enniskillen. Fr. Martin's connection with youth ministry in the diocese will continue as he has been appointed as Chairman of the Clogher don Óige Management Committee and will work closely with Matthew to develop Youth Ministry in Clogher Diocese. The experience of Fr. Martin and indeed the whole Clogher don Óige Committee will be vital to Matthew in his new role.
